Allowances and Fees
Pay and Benefits of Fostering
At fostering families, we believe that it’s important that Foster Parents are given not only financial payments that cover the costs of caring for children or young people but also a professional fee for their work.
Fostering is a great career and our Foster Parents deserve to be rewarded for their hard work like any other worker in the social care or public sector.
Our allowances take into account the demands of fostering and the significance of the role they play in a child or young person’s life.
We know that, although our payments are very competitive, it is impossible to place a monetary value on work that foster parents undertake on a day to day basis.
You’ll receive an excellent weekly pay for each foster child.
How does foster pay work?
The amount of allowance paid depends on the type of fostering you do with considerations like the age of the child and their individual needs.
An example payment would be £400 per week per child and increasing if you have a speaclist foster placement or have fostered more than one child. £800 per week for is paid for two children and £1200 per week is paid for three children in placement with you. All income is tax-free. Each case is decided upon individual merits.
If you would like to discuss our allowances and fees further, please call our office or send us an email to enquiries@fosteringfamilies.org.uk where we will be happy to discuss this further with you.
Additional Fostering Allowances
We would also provide higher professional fees for Foster Children and Young people that require more skilled support, for example:
- Learning Disability
- Challenging behaviour
- Parent and Child
- Remand Placements
- Stepdown Placements
As well as your professional fee we offer additional allowances, some that are unique to us that other fostering providers do not. Allowances such as:
- An allowance towards the cost of a holiday for the child
- An initial clothing allowance and school uniform allowance
- Help towards the cost of celebrations for children, such as birthdays, Christmas and other festivals
- Summer Activity Allowance
